Helping Our Customers "Give Back"

Thanks for Sharing
Macy's 2008 Thanks for Sharing holiday gifts rewards program raised a record $14.7 million for nonprofit organizations. This signature program lets customers support charities when they enroll in the Holiday rewards program. Thanks for Sharing has raised more than $51 million for charities nationwide in the past six years.

Reading Is Fundamental
Macy's customers donated $3.2 million to the Book A Brighter Future campaign to benefit Reading Is Fundamental (RIF), the oldest and largest children's and family literacy organization in the country. Donations support local RIF programs and provide reading resources. In addition, the Macy's Fund for Multicultural Resources provides literacy resources to African-American, Hispanic and Native American children and their families. Macy's and its customers have raised more then $6.9 million for RIF in the past five years.

Turn Over A New Leaf
In 2008, Macy's introduced the first annual Turn Over A New Leaf campaign to benefit environmental causes and sustainability. A charity shopping day, along with proceeds from a specially designed tote, raised $2.8 million for the National Park Foundation (NPF) and was one of the largest single gifts ever made to the NPF.

Respect!
Another new initiative for 2008 was the Respect! campaign to help raise awareness of domestic and dating violence, sexual assault and child abuse. A portion of the proceeds from the Shop For A Cause event and the sale of Respect! bracelets raised $1.6 million for the Family Violence Prevention Fund.
